Six New Houses to be Added to Brookside Homes

Comfort Care and Resources, Inc. will be introducing six new homes to be added to the Brookside Homes portion of the company within the upcoming year. A location for the neighborhood of these houses has not yet been determined. Current clients within Brookside Homes live within the same general area. It has not been decided if the company will remain in one area, or if they will branch out, in order to maintain the normalcy of a diverse neighborhood environment.

In 2002, Brookside Homes started with one house and one patient. It was created to fill the needs of a younger patient with a degenerative disease. Brookside aimed to combine the comfort of a private residential home, with the support and cost savings of a shared environment. By utilizing the best of both worlds, Brookside would become a true alternative to nursing home placement.

Eight years later, there are now four homes that are a part of the company. The homes are no longer located on Brookside Drive, but are spread out across a quieter residential area. Another purpose of these houses is to create a normal, neighborhood atmosphere for the clients. These homes are not like typical elderly apartments or carriage houses where one can reside until moving to a nursing home. On the contrary, Brookside is meant to service each elder through any physical or cognitive disability. Each house is a private residence for clients who want to live in their home as long as possible and make only one move after that. That one move would be to a Brookside Home, where all needs would be met. At Brookside, there are all the amenities of a nursing home, but it is included with an actual house and a front porch, as well as neighborhood support system. Another innovative goal behind this company is to have good support within a typical neighborhood setting. The idea is to blend the patients in with the community and allow for a comfortable development atmosphere with the aging process.

This is the philosophy of Comfort Care and Brookside Homes, that together they “Make it Possible”—a point that will be maintained through the growth and development of these six new homes, within the year.
